Jacqueline's passion for dog training started when she adopted a rescue German Shepherd/Chow, Hunter. When her newly adopted dog started exhibiting intense leash reactivity and dog aggression, she quickly became invested and passionate about training. Jacqueline made it her mission to help her dog and other people's dogs, left fashion college a year into pursue dog training as a career, and hasn't looked back since.  The journey in training with her own dog through his behaviors, has made Jacqueline very eager to help strengthen the relationship between people and their dogs through the training process, and help people better understand and work with the dog in front of them.  With a plan to explore to sport world of agility training, Jacqueline recently added to her pack with her Australian Shepherd, Gypsy.

On the rare occasion she isn't training dogs, you can find Jacqueline doing yoga with her fiancé, running with her dogs & wearing all things the color yellow!

Alicia Bench
Products Manager / Lead Trainer

Alicia has always had a strong love for animals. In fact, her favorite book was the Encyclopedia of Animals growing up! With a background in social media and general marketing, after collaborating with numerous dog-related companies, she found a true passion working with dogs, and pursued dog training head on. Alicia first developed a love for training when she got her Australian Shepherd, Oliver, at 8-weeks old. Her passion is helping owners with working breeds learn how to channel their high-drive and energy; all while giving them a job to do and keep them mentally stimulated! When not training dogs, Alicia is likely traveling, or hiking and camping with her husband and dog!

Tristan Flint
Lead Trainer

Tristan discovered his love for dogs at a young age and being consistently surrounded by dogs, found a true passion.  His curiosity sparked his first dream job, a veterinarian, until he realized he would loathe the hardest part of the job.  Now, he aspires to help people connect with their furry family.  His love for psychology, and caring nature makes him flexibly compatible with both owners and their canine companions.  He also enjoys a good challenge, making dog training a fulfilling experience for both himself and the dogs.  Tristan began as an on-site trainer and quickly realized his passions fell more along lines of helping families one-on-one.  Using the critical dog training skill developed as an on-site trainer and leveraging his natural aptitude for connection, Tristan now enjoys creating positive experiences for families and their dogs,  Working with Charlo has helped Tristan realize his calling, helping families in need of guidance.

Taylor Newman
On-Site Trainer

Taylor is passionate about nature and wildlife, and has been for as long as she can remember.  Outdoor trips to Montana with her grandparents fostered a deep fascination and admiration for wolves!  So, working professionally with their descendants is basically a dream come true.  She was working in a restaurant and on the path to being a yoga instructor, before a friend mentioned Charlo was looking to bring on more trainers.  Her heart instantly ignited and she knew this was the path for her.  As a dog trainer, she gets to teach, challenge, and truly love every single dog by improving their lives.  Taylor enjoys all breeds but can’t deny her special affinity for those pointy eared shepherd types, (and all the challenges that they can bring).

Kass Flint
On-Site Trainer

Kassandra has never lived a day in her life without a dog.  From the day she was brought home from the hospital, she has been snuggled and cared for, by dogs.  To Kass, the dogs are family.  It's no wonder she has found such a great fit as a dog trainer!  Her experience, familiarity, and comfort with dogs allows her to relate naturally with the dog in the programs.  This uniquely ensures each dog she handles has a positive, happy, educational, and fulfilling experience.

Eliana Maddox
On-site Trainer

Eliana discovered a passion for animals as a young child that has only grown with age. She read every animal related book at her local library and this led her to consider becoming a veterinarian. As she worked at various vet offices and shelters, she realized the joy of working with the dogs and helping them overcome fearful situations was starting to outweigh her love of the medical aspects. This grew with her very first personal dog, Kida, a timid Australian shepherd/ Husky mix. Helping Kida gain confidence confirmed Eliana's desire to help dogs interact with the world around them in a fun and engaging way! She has a strong desire to start getting into the dog sport world and would love to one day add a Beauceron to her pack. When she isn't spending time with and training dogs, you can find Eliana training any other animal around, including both her goldfish and her cats!

Samantha Howe
Puppy Project Director / Head Trainer

Sam is the best trainer at Charlo (according to the other trainers) and has a measure of patience which rivals that of the tibetan monks. This is why she is the perfect one to head up the puppy project program. Simply put, her patience and love for puppies will outlast and encourage even the most uncooperative pups. This is why we call her: The Denmother.

Sam grew up with dogs and always wanted to be an animal trainer, but it was only once she got her own dog as an adult that her dream became a reality. Her natural compassion, love for animals, and need to train her own dog was the perfect recipe for becoming the trainer she wanted to be, but never thought she could. After working for the top training company in Charlotte for 2.5 years, her and her husband Chris moved across the country to be around family, put down roots, and founded Charlo Training.

Chris Howe
Founder/Business Manager

Chris Howe is a local, experienced trainer who has worked with over 500 different dogs with issues ranging from red-line aggression, to extreme timidity, to super excitable and everything that goes with them. He has experience with a tremendous variety of breeds from Toy Chihuahuas to Bernese Mountain Dogs and has trained dogs as young as eight weeks and old as twelve years. He firmly believes you can teach an old dog new tricks, as long as you are patient with them.

Chris has a passion for teaching owners how to handle their animals in different situations and pushing them to see things from their dogs point of view. Originally from Molalla, Chris learned to train in Charlotte, NC before moving back here to start Charlo Training. Pulling from his extraordinarily varied background which includes positions in metal working, private security, and executive recruiting to name a few, Chris has a knack for taking complex concepts and making them relevant to the client in front of him. When not training dog families he enjoys taking his own dog to the taphouse, and playing the most complicated games he can get his hands on. Yes, he’s a nerd at heart!
